Additional Information

The Decoy Grenade is a new grenade to the Counter-Strike series featured in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Very cheap and useful, the decoy is meant to confuse and misdirect. Sparingly used, decoys can be effective in confusing enemy players long enough to get them killed. Decoy's are very easy to pick out due to the repetitive nature of their weapon's fire sound effects, so don't expect a lot of use out of a decoy that has been active longer than a few seconds..

Flashbang Grenade

Official Description

The non-lethal flashbang grenade temporarily blinds anybody within its concussive blast, making it perfect for flushing out closed-in areas. Its loud explosion also temporarily masks the sound of footsteps.

Additional Information

The Flashbang is a grenade that deals no damage but blinds any player that sees it when it explodes. The length and severity of the effect depends on the players viewpoint and model orientation. If a grenade ignites behind you, the effect will be minimal. A flashbang going off in your direct field of view, however, will leave you completely blind for a very long time. The flashbang is a difficult grenade to use effectively but plays a crucial role in securing and defending angles and bombsites.

High Explosive Grenade

The high explosive fragmentation grenade administers high damage through a wide area, making it ideal for clearing out hostile rooms.

Additional Information

The High Explosive Grenade damages enemies in its blast radius. Although an HE nade can't kill an enemy with 100HP, it chews up unarmored targets and enemies unlucky enough to be very near the blast. This type of nade is very effective at finishing off wounded players around the corner, in tight-knit areas such as hallways, and in rounds where the enemy is lacking armor. It also significantly slows enemies caught in its blast radius, which can make it a good choice before peeking a corner.

Smoke Grenade

Official Description

The smoke grenade creates a medium-area smoke screen. It can effectively hide your team from snipers, or even just create a useful distraction.

Additional Information

The Smoke Grenade is an incredibly useful grenade that blankets an area with a thick cloud of smoke for 15 seconds. Note that the full effect lasts 18 seconds. Unlike previous versions of CS, smokes in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are almost impossible to see through and give a heavy positional advantage to players outside of the smoke. Be very wary of walking through the smoke as enemy players will see you long before you see them.

Kevlar Vest

Overview

The Kevlar Vest is an essential piece of equipment that should be bought at every opportunity. Not only does Kevlar protect against bullet-punch, or the slowdown that occurs when you are hit, it absorbs a significant percentage of damage caused by explosions and low velocity projectiles and can easily be the difference between life and death in a firefight. There are some weapons, like the AWP, that can kill in one hit despite having a vest. Kevlar by itself does not protect against headshots.

Kevlar + Helmet

Overview

The Kevlar + Helmet is a combination purchase that is vest which includes a tactical helmet. The helmet allows you to survive headshots with most weapons by absorbing some of the damage. Some weapons, such as an AK-47, AWP, SCAR-20 and SSG 08 will kill with a headshot from any range regardless of head amor. If a player buys only kevlar and survives the round with no armor damage, they can upgrade to kevlar + helmet for only $350 the following round. If their armor does take damage, kevlar + helmet costs the full $1000.

Overview

The Defuse Kit is a relatively cheap, CT-only piece of equipment that allows for the quick disposal of a Terrorist's Bomb. It cuts the default defuse time of 10 seconds by half. Many rounds have been won by capable CTs pulling off ninja defuses without the enemy team knowing or being able to react.
